What We Do

The Belfast Buildings Preservation Trust is an active regenerator of historic buildings and a champion of Belfast’s built heritage. The Trust is continually involved in a variety of heritage led regeneration projects. Some of these projects are our own and others require advice and mentoring.

Since 1996 BBPT has been involved in almost forty projects, in Belfast and beyond. As one of the first buildings preservation trusts in Northern Ireland, we are keen to encourage and strengthen the work of heritage-led regeneration. Our own track record is recognised at a national level.

Our work of securing sustainable regeneration depends on having both the input and support of the local communities. To this end we consult widely on our work and host lectures, school competitions, book launches and other heritage-led cultural events. We believe that these wider cultural and social activities, that highlight Belfast’s historic character, are part of what builds long term support for our work.

Belfast Buildings Preservation Trust is a company limited by guarantee (Company Registration No. NI31327) and is recognised as a Charity by the Inland Revenue (Charity No. XR16403)
